To begin, of course since you're here you already know my name but, you don't know who I am. I am a woman of, let's call it, middle age, a parent, daughter, sister, and friend...blah, blah, you can read all of that on this very website...but, did you know I'm a curious person? I find I have many questions nearly every minute of every day. Sometimes I find myself wondering why I have so many questions, or I ask myself: do you need answers or are you curious about what makes something, or someone, tick? I think that's it, it's curiosity more than needing answers because if we follow our curiosity then we get the answers to the question we may have about something, or someone...are you still with me?
To be clear, as a curious person I've found myself in a pickle a time or two (no, not actually inside a pickle...). Not everyone appreciates, or understands, someone with a curious nature and the ability to ask questions. You see, I wasn't always so bold or confident, rather I would just accept the world around me as is (how boring!). I came to the conclusion one day, I wasn't satisfied and I wasn't going to simply accept anything any more. Thus, at my age (recall, that middle age and technically a year ago now) I sat down at my laptop and began to write in earnest. My female protagonist, Banjo Standhope, was born of a dream I had one night. I loved the name Banjo, I love music and a friend had an older yellow labrador whose name was Banjo-he was a great dog, it was serendipity for sure. Then I love Scottish heritage tales and made Banjo's family immigrants from Scotland, the first relative coming over chose Standhope as in Stand For Hope. You see, my character had to have her own character flush with goodness, especially hopefulness.
That brings us back to curiosity...Banjo's travels are my way of sharing with you, the readers, what makes Banjo tick and what kinds of questions come to her mind. She is not me, I am not her (she's much braver than me) but I wanted to propose a new dialogue to cuss and discuss at the proverbial street corner coffee shop, cafe, market, or etc (hence, the name of my blog). Perhaps I have (I hope so). Ah, enough rambling...thanks for visiting. Cheers!
